Manchester United squad ‘expect’ Ten Hag exit

An increasing number of the Manchester United squad believe the club will appoint a new manager in the summer.

Erik ten Hag’s position appears uncertain following a disappointing campaign at Old Trafford with last weekend’s Manchester Derby defeat having added to the pressure on his position.

The Red Devils are sixth in the Premier League table and 11 points behind Aston Villa, who sit in the fourth and final guaranteed Champions League position.

Despite large investment, Ten Hag has struggled to build on a first season in English football that saw the Dutchman secure a top-four finish and League Cup success.

The arrival of new co-owners Ineos has led to speculation that change could be made in the summer and the Daily Mail are reporting that several squad members believe a new manager will be appointed at the end of the campaign.

Changes have began in the boardroom with Omar Berrada recruited from Manchester City as United’s new chief executive and an approach has been made to bring Newcastle’s Dan Ashworth in as director of football.

Decisions will then be made on the manager as the Red Devils look to reestablish themselves at the top end of the Premier League.
