Manchester United are set to announce the signing of Mason Mount after the midfielder completed his medical ahead of a move from Chelsea.
Mount is set to sign for the Red Devils in a deal worth ยฃ60m including add-ons and has agreed terms on a long-term contract.
The England international has passed a medical ahead of his official unveiling as a Manchester United player and took to social media to send a goodbye message to the Chelsea fans.
Mount – who turned down a new contract at Chelsea in favour of a move to Old Trafford – said the decision to leave west London was ‘whatโs right for me at this moment in my career’.
โHi Chelsea fans, given the speculation over the last six months this may not come as a surprise to you, but it doesnโt make it any easier to tell you that Iโve made the decision to leave Chelsea,” Mount said on Instagram.
โI feel you deserve more than just a written statement, so I wanted to tell you directly how grateful Iโve been for all of your support over the last 18 years. I know some of you wonโt be happy with my decision, but itโs whatโs right for me at this moment in my career.
โI joined Chelsea when I was six years old and weโve been through a lot together. Winning the Youth Cup, my Player of the Year awards, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and of course that unforgettable night when we won the Champions League.
โI want to say thank you to the academy, Jim [Fraser] and Neil [Bath] for being so influential to me from such a young age. The managers Iโve worked under, Frank [Lampard], Thomas [Tuchel] and Graham [Potter], the backroom staff, the unsung heroes of Cobham, all of my teammates over the years that have become my brothers.
โMy family for the continuous love and support and most importantly you guys for sticking with me throughout. Wish you all the best.โ
