Manchester United reject Barcelona’s Paul Pogba bid

Manchester United have rejected a bid from Barcelona for the services of Paul Pogba according to reliable reports in Italy this evening.

Pogba rejoined Manchester United for a then World Record £89 million from Juventus in the summer of 2016, although he has has struggled to produce his best form consistently at Old Trafford, and his relationship with Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly strained.

Reports from Spain this evening have said that Pogba wants to leave the club, and the reliable Sky Italy journalist Gianluca di Marzio quickly followed that up with the news that Barcelona have had a bid rejected.

It is claimed that the La Liga champions have had their offer of €50 million plus Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina – a player United have shown interest in already this summer – rejected

Despite having today presented Arturo Vidal as a Barcelona player, head-coach Ernesto Valverde was full of praise for Pogba last week, and refused to rule out a move, a move which has now seemingly been made.

“Pogba is a great player who is in a great team,” He was quoted as saying by Tribal Football.

“We are respectful of the players who are in other clubs, I don’t want to go into the evaluations of other football players.”

Despite his reportedly fractious relationship with Jose Mourinho, a player of Pogba’s quality would take plenty of replacing, especially considering that there is now less than 72 hours until the transfer window closes for Premier League clubs.

Crucially though, Barcelona are able to sign players up until the end of August.

Could this be a saga that rumbles on-and-on?
