Rasmus Hojlund has been told he faces a fight for regular minutes at Manchester United this season and has been advised to depart for first-team football.

Manchester United have completed the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig with the forward set to become Ruben Amorim’s first-choice. The arrival of Sesko in a deal worth up to £73.7m has cast doubt on Hojlund’s future at Old Trafford.

Hojlund struggled for form last season and netted just four times in the Premier League. With increased competition for places, he has now been informed that an exit is the best route for regular football.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Manchester United have communicated Hojlund’s status in Amorim’s plans to the player. United would prefer a permanent sale, but are willing to listen to loan offers on the right terms.

AC Milan are interested in a deal to bring the former Atalanta striker back to Serie A. The Rossoneri are searching for a centre-forward to compete with Santiago Gimenez, following the exits of Tammy Abraham and Luka Jovic.

Discussions have been held between the two clubs regarding a potential deal. Milan are understood to be prepared to meet Manchester United’s £40m valuation of Hojlund, via a loan fee and buy option.
