Manchester United prospect keen to impress Mourinho on pre-season tour

Manchester United prospect Andreas Pereira has announced that he is determined to impress Jose Mourinho in the upcoming pre-season tour.

Pereira has shown glimpses of his quality during his time at Manchester United, where he has so far made just 13 appearances.

He has spent the last two seasons away from Old Trafford, firstly with Granada and then with Valencia where he made a total of 37 and 29 appearances respectively. He will once again return to Manchester this summer in order to try to prove himself to be worthy of a first team place.

He has now revealed what he has told Jose Mourinho ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign:

“I told him that I felt ready to compete,” he told Belgium newspaper Het Belang van Limburg when referencing a chat he had with the United boss.

“He was happy to hear that and said I would get my chance. Now we will see how it goes in pre-season.

“Then we are together again, but of course I hope to convince him.”

Pereira has spent the last two seasons out on loan, firstly at Granada before moving to Valencia last season, reportedly against Mourinho’s wishes. But he now believes he is ready to make an impact for United.

“Breaking through at Manchester United is and remains the big dream,” he said.

“After two good seasons in Spain, I know that I can always go there. Valencia wanted to keep me, but at the moment my goals are in England.

“I want to make it at Manchester United. At Valencia I have proven that I can participate at the highest level. That’s what I hope to show in Manchester now.”
