Manchester United set to offer Pogba £500k per week to convince him to stay

Manchester United are set to offer wantaway midfielder Paul Pogba a new mega money contract in an attempt to convince him to stay at Old Trafford.

26-year-old France international Pogba has struggled to produce his best form on a consistent basis since his £89 million return to Manchester United from Juventus in the summer of 2016. Despite finishing last season as his sides top goalscorer and assist maker, he remains a hugely divisive figure amongst the clubs fanbase.

Speculation has raged about the World Cup winners future for over a year now, and Pogba recently admitted on a promotional tour of Asia that he would like to pursue a new challenge.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane is keen on bringing his countryman to the Spanish capital, although it remains to be seen as to whether Los Blancos could afford his reported £150 million price, with the 13 time European champions having already shelled out £300 million on new players this summer.

Pogba’s former club Juventus are also said to be interested, but they are more likely to offer a cash plus players deal.

However, United are adamant Pogba will remain at Old Trafford next season and according to the Daily Mail the club are preparing to offer him £500,000 a week in the hope of persuading him to stay.

Pogba’s current deal has two years left, although United do have the option of extending it for a further year.

It remains to be seen though whether they can convince the talented midfielder that the club will be in a realistic position to challenge for major honours anytime soon, having finished sixth in the Premier League last season, a whopping 32 points behind winners Man City.

This one is set to run and run…
