Manchester United have met with officials from Lazio regarding a potential transfer of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
The midfielder is one of the most sought after players in Europe, and did his reputation no harm at this summer’s World Cup where he put in some decent performances for Serbia, although it wasn’t enough to take the European side into the knockout stages.
He has been linked with a mega money departure from Serie A club Lazio this summer, with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus all strongly linked.
And now, according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, representatives from Manchester United and Real Madrid met with officials from Lazio on Friday to discuss a potential transfer of the 23-year-old.
Lazio president Claudio Lotito and sporting director Igli Tare have already met with the midfielders agent, who claims his client is considering his options.
Juventus have reportedly cooled their interest in the midfielder, potentially due to the financial commitment needed if they are to land Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid in the coming weeks.
It has been claimed that SMS is valued as around £88 million, although some reports have suggested that Lazio could demand close to am incredible £130 million.
Manchester United’s need to sign a new midfielder however has been lessened after they announced that Marouane Fellaini has finally decided to sign a new deal to stay at the club until 2020.
