Manchester United manager Ten Hag shuts down Rashford exit talk

Erik ten Hag has shut down speculation that Marcus Rashford could leave Manchester United in the summer.

Rashford has been linked with leaving Manchester United in recent weeks after an underwhelming campaign for the forward. The 26-year-old scored 30 goals in all competitions last season but has struggled to replicate that form, netting just seven times in the Premier League so far this season.

The England international was dropped for the FA Cup win at Newport County in January for a disciplinary breach and his relationship with Ten Hag has been scrutinised this season.

Paris Saint-Germain are long-term admirers of Rashford and continue to be credited with interest in signing the forward, as the French champions look for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is set to sign for Real Madrid when his contract expires in the summer.

Rashford – who was named Manchester United’s Player of the Season in 2022/23 – signed a new long-term contract with the club last season and Ten Hag has insisted he remans ‘part of the Man United project’.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Liverpool in the FA Cup, Ten Hag said: “We did not re-sign Marcus last season for four years with the intention to sell him now.

“He should be part of Man United project and it’s not a subject we don’t talk about.”
