Manchester United have made a deadline day move for Atletico Madrid centre-back Diego Godin.
According to Sky Sports United have contacted Atletico about the 122 cap Uruguay international’s availability, however the La Liga side have told United that the 32-year-old is not for sale.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho has made signing a World Class centre-back his main priority, but it seems that Godin will simply join Spurs Toby Alderweireld, Bayern Munich’s Jerome Boateng and Leicester City’s Harry Maguire on the list of players that Manchester United attempted but ultimately failed to sign this summer.

However, despite Mourinho’s announcement earlier that he is not confident about signing more players, United legend Gary Neville teasingly took to twitter recently and predicted that his former side will sign three players before today’s 5pm deadline.
