Manchester United linked with shock move for Stoke goalkeeper

Manchester United are often linked with a plethora of players, but there are strong rumours today linking them with a shock move for Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant.

Jose Mourinho certainly isn’t short of goalkeeping options with David de Gea the undisputed first choice ‘keeper and Argentina number one Sergio Romero his understudy.

They also have a number of highly rated youngsters at the club in the form of Joel Pereira and and Dean Henderson.

However, with De Gea widely regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world, despite not being his usual dazzling best at the World Cup, opportunities for Pereira and Henderson are extremely limited, and they expected to leave Manchester United on loan to gain valuable experience and game time.

According to the Telegraph, United are set to bring in Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant as a new third choice stopper.

The 35-year-old is expected to move to Old Trafford on a free transfer, and despite not being the high profile name that Red Devils fans clamour for, he has amassed a wealth of experience, making more than 500 appearances for likes of Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and Stoke.

It is thought he will sign a one year deal.
