Manchester United 'keeper confirms he wants to stay

Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has confirmed that he wants to stay at the club, despite being linked with a move Inter Milan.

The Argentinian number one has played second fiddle to David de Gea for the last two seasons after being brought in by Louis van Gaal to replace Victor Valdes, with whom the Dutchman had fallen out with.

Since then, Romero has 26 appearances for Manchester United, 10 last season, and a further 16 this season.

When asked by Sky Sport Italy about links to Inter Milan, Romero confirmed that he wants to stay at Manchester United.

“I doubt I’ll be in Italy next year,”

“I am very happy in Manchester, they make me feel important and I hope to stay for a long time.”

Romero has been Jose Mourinho’s first choice ‘keeper for the club’s Europa League campaign including the recent 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo where United booked their place in the final. Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Romero will indeed start that final against Ajax in Stockholm on May 24th.

A win in that game will ensure the club qualify for next seasons Champions League.
