Manchester United issue statement on Sir Alex Ferguson health

Manchester United have issued a statement regarding the health of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Reports earlier this evening speculated that the 13 time Premier League winning manager had been rushed into hospital with a bleed on the brain which would require emergency surgery.

Now, Manchester United have confirmed the reports via a statement via their club website, confirming that the Scot has successfully undergone surgery.

The statement reads:

“Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.

“The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery.

“His family request privacy in this matter.

“We will keep Sir Alex and his loved ones in our thoughts during this time, and we are united in our wish to see him make a comfortable, speedy recovery.”

Our thoughts go out to the Ferguson family and the Manchester United Faithful at this time.
