Manchester United have entered the race to sign Chelsea wonder kid Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The 18-year-old, who made his senior England debut in Friday’s 5-0 win over the Czech Republic, is considering a move away from Stamford Bridge as he seeks greater playing time.
German side Bayern Munich had several bids for the teenager rejected in January, and are likely to return in the summer as they seek a long-term replacement for the aging Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.
Hudson-Odoi’s current deal runs until 2020, and the winger has rejected Chelsea’s offer of a new £85,000-a-week deal. The academy graduate has made it clear that money is not the issue, and that he seeks opportunities as he continues his development.
England teammate Jadon Sancho has thrived since leaving English football for Germany in 2017, and Hudson-Odoi has noted the development of his fellow teenager as he considers his next move.
Sancho’s Borussia Dortmund have also joined Manchester United in expressing an interest in Hudson-Odoi, whilst Liverpool are also monitoring developments.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea would be unwilling to sell Hudson-Odoi this summer, though face the prospect of losing the player for a nominal fee next summer.
The club’s transfer plans are further complicated as they appeal a two-window transfer ban, whilst Eden Hazard’s future at the club is in doubt amidst interest from Real Madrid.
