Manchester United are ‘confident’ of completing the signing of Willian from Chelsea according to reports this morning.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Chelsea winger for a number of years, with Jose Mourinho known to be a huge admirer having worked with him during his second spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.
While Willian is thought to be happy at the West London club, Chelsea’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League could see him finally bring an end to his five year stint at the club, with Barcelona also interested in his services.
The 29-year-old had refused to discuss his future while the World Cup was ongoing, although Brazil’s quarter-final elimination at the hands of Belgium on Friday will see attentions turn to where Willian will be playing when the new season starts.
While Jose Mourinho stated back in January that the arrival of Alexis Sanchez meant that there wouldn’t be any attacking players joining the club this summer, his side is still seemingly in need of a new right winger.
Gareth Bale has also been linked, although the arrival of a Julen Lopetegui at the Bernabeu and the potential departure of Cristiano Ronaldo could see the Welshman stay in the Spanish capital.
United have already completed three signings this summer, bringing in Fred for £52 million from Shakhtar Donetsk, Diogo Dalot from Porto as well as the free transfer of Lee Grant from Stoke.
It is thought that United are also in the market for a new left-back and central defender.
