Manchester United ‘increasingly confident’ of signing Jadon Sancho in club record deal

Manchester United are ‘increasingly confident’ of signing Jadon Sancho this summer as the club prepare a club-record deal for the Borussia Dortmund star.

The England international is expected to leave the Bundesliga side this summer after once again starring in Germany’s top flight, with a host of Europe’s elite clubs monitoring the winger ahead of a potential big-money move.

Liverpool and Chelsea are amongst the sides interested in bringing the youngster back to the Premier League, though neither side is prepared to meet Dortmund’s valuation of the player which is estimated to be around £120 million.

According to the Mirror, that situation has left Manchester United in pole position to secure his signing and the club are said to be ‘increasingly confident’ of landing the former Man City player, a deal that would eclipse the £89m fee paid to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus four years ago.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are also tracking Sancho’s progress, though should the 20-year-old decide on a return to English football, a switch to Old Trafford looks his likeliest destination.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to land Sancho in what is anticipated to be a busy summer for the club, United also interested in deals for Leicester’s James Maddison and Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.

The Red Devils believe that given his age, Sancho represents good value – even at a club-record price-tag – the winger having scored 14 goals and provided a further 15 assists in the Bundesliga so far this season.
