Manchester United are closing in on the £35 million signing of Benfica defender Victor Lindelof.
The Sun claim that United are closing in on the signing of long-term target Victor Lindelof. They claim that the Swedish defender will fly to Manchester on Wednesday to complete the transfer following his participation in Swedens fixture against Norway.
Lindelof was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in January but a move for the 22-year old didn’t materialise. It seems as though Jose Mourinho is still interested in signing the centre-back and he is finally set to get his man.
Jose Mourinho excelled last summer with the signing of Eric Bailly from Villarreal, but has sent plenty of criticism in the direction of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling this season as he looks for a new central defender. Lindelof is believed to be that man, apparently ready to sign a five-year deal, while Burnley defender Michael Keane has also been linked.
Jose Mourinho is also trying to secure the signings of both Alvaro Morata and Andrea Belotti, who will cost the club upwards of £130m. The Spanish and Italian strikers would cost in excess of £130m combined as he looks to replace the goals lost by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been released by the club this summer.
Ibrahimovic suffered a double cruciate knee injury back in March and is not expected to feature until 2018.
