In demand Barcelona left-back Jordi Alaba has revealed that he is eager to stay at Barcelona despite negotiations over a new contract at the Nou Camp failng to progress.

Alba’s current contract with the La Liga Champions runs until 2020, although his agent has been angling for an improved deal for some time now.

This has alerted Premier League clubs Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs, who are all looking to strengthen on the left side of defence this summer.

Alba, who is currently on international duty with Spain at the World Cup in Russia has however admitted that he would be happy to spend the rest of his career at the Nou Camp.

“I’m very happy at Barca,” he told sport.es.

“If it depended on me, I would stay at Barcelona my whole life. But it doesn’t depend only on me, it’s also what the club wants.

“It also depends on my performances, which this season have been very good, but I don’t see myself away from Barca.”

The 29-year-old began his career at Barca, but was let go as a teenager for being too small. However, he rebuilt his career at Valencia and earned a move back to the Nou Camp in 2012, and has since gone to establish himself as one of the finest left-backs in world football.
