Manchester United and Chelsea appear to have lost out in the race to sign Roma midfielder Miralem Pjanic as he prepares to have a medical with Juventus.

The Bosnian has been linked with making a move to the Premier League but those hopes have been dashed after Serie A champions triggered a €38million release clause and is set to have a medical.

Juventus director, Beppe Marotta, confirmed that Pjanic had pushed through the move, telling Tuttosport and La Gazzetta dello Sport:

The Pjanic operation was concluded with the push of the player, who strongly wanted the transfer to Juventus by activating the release clause he had already stipulated with Roma.

The player will undergo a medical with us shortly.

This could open the path for Paul Pogba to leave Old Lady as Manchester United and Real Madrid push for his signature in what is speculated to be a £78million deal.
