Manchester City host Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon, looking for a seventh successive league win to start the season.
Enzo Maresca’s side lead the table on 18 points after six wins, but lost 4-2 at home to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday after trailing 3-0 inside half an hour. That ended an eight-game winning run in all competitions, which included a 3-0 win at Liverpool on 11 October. Maresca said Ipswich are dangerous and can surprise City. City won both league meetings in 2024-25, 4-1 at home and 6-0 at Portman Road, and Ipswich have not won away at City in the top flight since November 2000.
Manchester City team news
City have no injury concerns. Phil Foden is available after serving a three-game ban for his red card against Manchester United on 13 September, but Maresca said he is yet to decide whether Foden starts. Maresca also said Erling Haaland and others, including Elliot Anderson, Enzo Fernandez, Marc Guehi and Ruben Dias, will need rest at some point.
Haaland is still expected to lead the line, having scored 10 goals in nine appearances in all competitions, including two against PSG. Ayyoub Bouaddi, Iliman Ndiaye and Matheus Nunes impressed as half-time substitutes in that game and are in contention to start, with Nunes likely to replace Abdukodir Khusanov at right-back. Bouaddi could join Anderson and Fernandez in midfield at the expense of Rayan Cherki, while Ndiaye is competing with Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo on the flanks. Nico O’Reilly and Josko Gvardiol are competing at left-back.
Manchester City predicted lineup
Manchester City possible starting XI: Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Guehi, O’Reilly; Anderson, Fernandez; Semenyo, Cherki, Doku; Haaland
