Manchester City launch £53million bid

Manchester City have launched a £53million bid for Everton defender John Stones as they prepare to break the world transfer record for a defender.

After already completing deals for Ilkay Gundogan and Nolito, Pep Guardiola is set to splash the cash once again after making a £53million bid for the 22-year old.

The move would see the Barnsley academy graduate become the most expensive defender in world history, eclipsing the £50million spent by Paros Saint-Germain in 2014, when they bought Chelsea defender David Luiz.

Yesterday we brought you news that Stones has told Everton boss Ronald Koeman that he wants to leave the club, as well as start his own preseason preparations next week at Manchester City.
