Manchester City close in on Brazilian starlet

Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Brazilian starlet Gabriel Jesus in a £20million deal.

The Palmeiras striker will move to the Etihad following a 15-minute conversation with new boss Pep Guardiola, who persuaded him to choose City, rather than Manchester rivals, United or indeed Barcelona and Real Madrid who are also interested in signing him.

It is believed that Jesus will be loaned back to Palmeiras until the end of the Brazilian season in January, with the São Paulo based club still having a shot at winning the title.

The youngster is yet to make his debut for Brazil, but was named as the Best Newcomer in the Brazilian championship after scoring 26 goals in 67 games.
