He hasn’t even been fully announced as a Manchester United player yet, but the Red Devils are already sweating on the fitness of new signing Fred.
The club announced that they had reached a deal to sign the Brazilian midfielder earlier this week, although stopped short of announcing him officially as a United.
Despite the lack of announcement and the usual quotes and pictures that go with it, it is believed that the deal is already completed. He had a medical on Monday and returned to training with the Brazil national team the following day.
However, the £52 million midfielder was pictured yesterday with his ankle on ice and the severity of the injury he has suffered is so far unknown.
“Today Fred had trauma in his ankle. It is too early to say, we have to see how he develops in the next 24 hours,”Brazil physician Rodrigo Lasmar said when asked for a full diagnosis on Thursday evening.
“He started working out right after. Tomorrow we will know whether he will have to be further examined or not.”
If the Brazilian has properly damaged his ankle, he could be a doubt for the start of the Premier League season which kicks off on August 11th, just over two months away.
