Manchester United target Fred is set to have a medical next week before finally completing his move to Old Trafford.
The Brazilian has been linked with a move to the Premier League since January when he was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.
However, a move to the Etihad never materialised with Shakhtar Donetsk rejecting City’s offer to ensure they could maintain their bid for the Ukrainian League title.
City have since allowed their interest to cool, turning their attentions towards Napoli midfielder Jorginho, and therefore allowing Man Utd a virtually free run at Fred.
Reports have suggested United have agreed a fee with Shakhtar worth an initial £43million, with a further £9m in add-ons.
The Daily Mail now claim that the Brazilian will head to Manchester to have a medical next week before finally completing his move to the Premier League before jetting off to Russia for the World Cup.
Fred is currently training with the Brazilian national team, but has already arrived in the North West of England as his country prepares for an international Friendly against Croatia at Anfield on Sunday.
Mourinho has previously spoken of his desire to bring a Brazilian to Old Trafford, telling ESPN Brazil in April: “I think a team without a Brazilian isn’t a team.” He later added: “Who knows, we can have a Brazilian in the squad next year.”
