Man Utd have already been denied in their pursuit of Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, it would appear.
The Red Devils were linked with the England international on Thursday, with The Athletic reporting that a move in the January transfer window was “under consideration”.
United were said to be “exploring the market for centre forwards” this winter after it emerged that Benjamin Sesko’s shin injury will keep the striker sidelined for longer than expected, likely into the New Year.
The club, however, will have to look at alternative options in the transfer market as Leeds have already moved to tie their star attacker down.
Man Utd dealt transfer blow as Calvert-Lewin makes decision
According to the BBC, Calvert-Lewin is “set to sign a new contract” with the Whites so that he remains at Elland Road until the end of the season at the very least.
The 29-year-old has scored 20 goals in 49 appearances since joining Leeds on a free transfer from Everton last summer, when he signed a three-year deal with the Yorkshire outfit.
