Manchester United will make a big money move to sign Mesut Ozil this month, according to reports today.
United have been linked with having an interest in the German international, who has just six months remaining on his current deal at the Emirates.
Despite being able to potentially sign the 29-year-old on a free transfer next summer, the Sunday Mirror, Jose Mourinho has persuaded Manchester United to splash the cash in January rather than wait to fight it out over a free transfer in the summer.
The German’s improved performances in recent months, along with his contract situation, has reportedly attracted attention from Europe’s heavyweights including Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
The report claims that the Manchester United board have sanctioned a move of up to £35m for the Arsenal star, who has already racked up four goals and five assists for the Gunners in the Premier League so far this season.
Ozil previously spent three years working under the now Manchester United manager during the duo’s respective time at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013.
The playmaker has reportedly demanded wages of £330,000-a-week to stay at Arsenal, and while it is unlikely that Manchester United would be willing to pay him such figures, they wold be able to exceed whatever the North London club can put on the table.
Ozil would be an ideal replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has failed to impress for the Red Devils.
