Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney has said he is not focussing on speculation surrounding his future.
The youngster has been linked with a move to Manchester United as Jose Mourinho looks to sign a new left-back this summer. While Juventus’ Alex Sandro seems to be the current front runner to arrive at Old Trafford in the upcoming transfer window, United have also been linked with Spurs’ Danny Rose as well as Tierney as alternatives.
However, speaking to Sky Sports, the Celtic star has insisted he is happy playing for the club he has grown up supporting:
“I’m happy. Everybody can see that I’m playing with the club I love. Everybody knows that, I don’t hide that. Im just enjoying it while I can.
“I’ve got over five years left [on my contract] at Celtic. Thats what I signed and thats why I signed it – I committed my long-term future to the club I love and thats all I can say about it.”
Europa League winners Atletico Madrid are the latest club to be linked with having an interest in the Scotland international, but asked about the speculation, Tierney said he wasn’t focussing on a move:
“They are a massive, massive club. They are in the Europa League final and are one of Europes giants.
“Its flattering to hear that teams like that are in for you, but that’s because what I’m doing at Celtic.
“Im working hard every day, I’m enjoying it, playing with a smile on my face, and that’s what is important to me.
“It gives you confidence that teams are watching you, teams are taking note of what you have done over the last few years, especially massive teams like that.
“Its not off putting in any way, its flattering like I say, but I’m focussed on Celtic.”
