Man Utd star refuses to give up Premier League title hope

Manchester United star Antonio Valencia has refused to give up hope of pipping Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

The Red Devil’s are currently a whopping 16 points behind being their Manchester rivals, although do have the chance to close that back down to 13 with a win against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

While United are enjoying the best season since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson, they have been unlucky to come up against a seemingly indestructible Manchester City in the title race this year, with a Pep Guardiola’s side only having lost one domestic game this season, a sensational 4-3 defeat to Liverpool last month.

However, United right back Antonio Valencia is not giving up hope of helping the club lift their 21st league trophy this season, despite the seemingly unassailable lead held by their rivals.

Valencia referred to the remarkable title race of 2012, when United led by eight points with six games left but ended up losing the title to Manchester City on the final day, with the famous ‘Aguerrrooooooo’ moment.

He said:

“We need to keep going.

“A few years ago, we lost a title when we were eight points ahead and there were only a few games left. Now, we have a lot more games to play and we need to keep fighting.”

Is Valencia right? Can United overhaul their rivals? Will it be ‘Lukakkuuuuuuu on the final day? Or is it too big of a gap? Leave us a comment below.
