Man United have three first-team players that could leave the club in the summer transfer window as they look to make room for new signings.ย
The Red Devils set about clearing house after Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed the purchase of a minority stake in the club through his petrochemicals company INEOS, which gave him control of football operations.
Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala, Donny van de Beek and Alvaro Fernandez have already departed this summer, fetching the club fees, while Omari Forson joined Monza on a free transfer. Raphael Varane also left after his contract expired.
Man Utd have made two signings so far, capturing centre-back Lenny Yoro from Lille and forward Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna for a combined ยฃ88.7 million ahead of the 2024/25.

They are hoping to get more signings through the door, with Manuel Ugarte linked with a move from Paris Saint-Germain. United have also looked atย Monacoโsย Youssouf Fofanaย andย Real Sociedadโsย Martin Zubimendi, while talks are ‘ongoing’ with Fiorentina over Sofyan Amrabat, according to Sky Sports.
Meanwhile, another new defender could still arrive after the signing of Yoro, with both Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite still on their list of potential transfer targets.
While Man Utd don’t lack transfer funds, they have to remain mindful that they don’t breach the Premier League‘s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Last summer the club were finedย โฌ300,000 (ยฃ257,000)ย for breaching UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.
The north east outfit therefore need to balance the books by selling players, as well making space in their 28-man squad, before making anymore new signings.
Scott McTominay is one player who could exit Old Trafford to make way for incomings. Sky Sports report that Fulham are ‘still working’ on a deal to bring the Scottish midfielder to Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers have already seen a bid worth ยฃ17m rejected by United, who are, at least publicly, ‘not actively looking to sell’. As an academy graduate, his sale would represent pure profit.
Victor Lindelof has previously been linked with a move away from the club as he enters the final year of his contract. While there is interest in the defender from other clubs, ‘no formal bids’ have been submitted.
Despite mending his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag, Jadon Sancho could still leave Man Utd this summer. PSG remain interested in a deal for the winger, while Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are ‘keen’ to sign the 24-year-old.
