Man Utd midfielder says Hazard is the best player in the Premier League

As Man Utd prepare to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final this afternoon, Ander Herrera spoken about Eden Hazard in absolutely glowing terms.

While everyone is talking about Mohamed Salah after his incredible 32 goal haul in the league, the Spaniard reckons that the Chelsea forward is actually the best player that the EPL has to offer.

Herrera and Hazard have had a number of running battles over the last few years, with the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder being given a job to man mark the Belgian during last season’s Premier League game at Old Trafford – a job he did excellently well.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Graham Hunters ‘The Big Interview’ podcast earlier this week however, he revealed that it wasn’t just his individual efforts that stopped Hazard that day, but the efforts of the whole team:

“For me, Hazard is the best player in the league, and I have said that from my first day here [in England],” he said.

“If we want to stop him, we need all of us, like we did at Old Trafford [in 2017].

“I know I was the protagonist after the game because of the man marking and blah blah blah, but if Jesse (Lingard) and Marcus (Rashford), and (Marouane) Fellaini and Paul (Pogba) in front of me, if they wouldn’t have done the job they did, probably Hazard would have received the ball.

“They were playing with three defenders, and Jesse and Marcus didn’t let those defenders come with ball easily and play the ball to Hazard, or Willian.

“So I know I was on the front page the next day, but credit [should go] to Jesse, to Marcus, to Paul and to Fellaini, they were in front of me, stopping that easy ball to Hazard.

“This time can be different, you never know what will happen in the final.”

Herrera also said that while Wembley is a beautiful stadium, it doesn’t have the special atmosphere found at some of England’s smaller stadia.
