Manchester United are the favourites to land Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic according to reports in Spain.
The Serbian midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Rome based club for several months after a string of impressive performances, after notching 13 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season so far.
His performances for Lazio have seen a number of clubs, including Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Juventus and the two Manchester clubs all linked with a potential move for the 23-year-old.
However, according to Spanish publication. Mundo Deportivo, it is Manchester United who are in fact leading the race for his signature.
They claim that while Barcelona’s interest is true, and that they have been tracking him for a number of years, they have been put off by Lazio’s price tag. They report that the Italians value Milinkovic-Savic at €80 million, while other reports suggest that valuation could be in excess of €100m!
Jose Mourinho has already admitted he will sign at least one midfielder this summer, and maybe even two, depending on what Marouane Fellaini decides to do this summer, and the Serbian would fit the bill perfectly, with the hope that he could finally help to get the best out of Paul Pogba.
Interestingly, Sergej’s brother Vanja, who is a goalkeeper at fellow Italian side Torino, has already been on the books at Manchester United during his youth career. The now 21-year-old left the club in 2016 without making an appearance.
