Man Utd ‘keeping close eye’ on Real Madrid midfielder

Man Utd are reportedly “keeping a close eye” on Real Madrid player Aurelien Tchouameni ahead of the summer transfer window.

With Casemiro set to leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season, the Red Devils are looking to rebuild their midfield.

Tchouameni has emerged as a potential replacement for the Brazilian as his future at the Bernabeu is uncertain.

According to The Telegraph, the France international “features prominently” on United’s list of potential signings this summer as “they seek a new top class no.6”.

Tchouameni could become available if Real sign a new midfielder in the transfer window, with both Manchester City’s Rodri and Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea linked with the Spanish giants.

The 26-year-old could be sold to fund such a deal, as could fellow Frenchman Eduardo Camavinga.

Man Utd “want to sign at least two midfielders this summer”, and they could even sign three if Manuel Ugarte leaves Old Trafford, as they look to prepare for Champions League football next season.

The club are also interested in Elliot Anderson, although he is expected to swap Nottingham Forest for City, and Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali. Their hopes of signing the Italian are, however, “receding”.

Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is also an option, but is “thought to be considered too similar to Kobbie Mainoo” to form a balanced midfield partnership.
