Man Utd boss Michael Carrick has issued an injury update on Amad Diallo, Carlos Baleba, Luke Shaw and Matthijs de Ligt ahead of facing Brighton in the League Cup.
The Red Devils and the Seagulls meet in the third round of the competition at Old Trafford on Wednesday with kickoff slated for 8pm BST.
Manuel Ugarte and Tom Heaton will definitely miss the fixture while they recover from long-term injuries, meaning they could be without up to six first-team players in midweek.

Shaw could return for the match after picking up a knock against Everton earlier this month, though he is a slight doubt to feature. The left-back has since missed the 4-0 win over Sabah FK in the UEFA Champions League and the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League.
“He could possibly be fit for Brighton, but it’s not clear cut,” Carrick said. “It’s a matter of a few days rather than anything else.”
Baleba, who joined United from Brighton for £65 million, is yet to make his debut for the club due to an ankle ligament injury, but Carrick did not rule out the possibility of a return to action soon.
“He’s come in being injured, and he’s desperate to get out there and be part of the group and training fully with the boys,” he said.
“Obviously he’s a quality player, why we brought them here, and it balances off the dynamics of the midfield in particular.”
Amad remains a doubt as he is “not quite close” to returning. De Ligt is also working his way back to fitness from an injury that has kept him sidelined since the backend of 2025, but Carrick was unwilling to put a potential date on his return.
