Man Utd have ‘concrete’ interest in Atalanta striker

Manchester United reportedly have a ‘concrete’ interest in Atalanta striker, Rasmus Højlund.

Signing a striker is widely believed to be one of Manchester United‘s top priorities this summer, with the club have allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to leave last November, while Anthony Martial has spent the vast majority of the season on the sidelines.

They did bring in Wout Weghorst in the January window, and while the Dutchman has proven to be an important and versatile cog in Erik ten Hag’s system, he has only managed two goals in 18 appearances since arriving at Old Trafford.

United have been linked with the likes of Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen in recent weeks, though both would reportedly cost the club north of £100 million.

According to Danish outlet, Ekstra Bladet, as per Sport Witness, United have shown ‘concrete interest’ in Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund.

Højlund only signed for the Italian side in August, joining from Sturm Graz, where he has since scored seven goals in 23 Serie A appearances.

The report says that his performances have not gone unnoticed around Europe, with Manchester United one of a number of clubs interested.

They say that ‘bids are expected’ this summer, with the player claimed to be valued between £21-30 million.

Højlund – who netted all three goals in the 3-1 win over Finland on Thursday – has also been linked with Arsenal and Newcastle, and has previously admitted that he is a ‘huge Manchester United fan’.

“Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan,” he said in January.

“So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course, that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point.”
