Man Utd face disappointment in Perisic pursuit

Manchester United look like missing out on the signing of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.

The Croatian has been touted as one of Jose Mourinho’s top transfer targets this summer, but have been told to cough up €50m (£44m) for his services.

The Serie A club have until the end of the day (30th June) to raise €30m through player sales or face a €7m fine from UEFA for breaching their Financial Fair Play rules.

United had hoped that the desperate situation at Inter Milan would force the Italians to accept their €32m bid which was lodged two weeks ago. However their plan seems to have failed as Inter Milan have refused to accept anything less than their original asking price, and gave a deadline on a July 1st to complete the deal by before the 28-year-old is removed from the transfer market. It is even thought that they would rather accept the €7m fine than knock almost €20m off of their asking price.

The situation is compounded further by claims that Inter Milan have managed to secure deals to raise the necessary funds, meaning that they are under no pressure to sell. Ever Banega could move to Sevilla for €9m while Gianluca Caprari could seal a move to Sampdoria for €13m.

The remaining €8m will be raised through the sale of Andrea Ranocchia, who was on loan at Hull last season, Jonathan Biabiany or George Puscas.
