Manchester United are close to completing their first summer signing and have reportedly agreed to trigger the €20 million release clause of Porto right-back Diogo Dalot.
Manchester United’s first choice right-back is of course Antonio Valencia, but at 32, he is edging towards the end of his career. His understudy, Matteo Darmian, is expected to leave the club in the summer with Juventus having being linked, leaving United in need of replacements.
According to The Telegraph, that potential replacement could be Portuguese youngster Diogo Dalot.
The 19-year-old won the Portuguese league title this season after breaking into the first-team, and could be set to be rewarded with a move to Old Trafford.
Dalot was promoted from Porto B team towards the end of the season, and while injury cut short his campaign, many have tipped the versatile defender to have a bright future.
Tim Fosu-Mensah, who spent the season on loan at Crystal Palace, is also capable of playing at right-back and time will tell if the Dutchman has a future at the club.
