Man Utd and Man City battle it out over World Record summer signing

Manchester United and Manchester City will battle it out to sign Barcelona forward Neymar.

According to the Sunday Express, the two Manchester rivals will both try to sign the Brazilian after he was encouraged to leave the Catalan club by his own father.

Neymar Snr has reportedly advised his son to move away from the Nou Camp to escape the shadows of Lionel Messi. He has reportedly suggested he move to the Premier League, with Manchester United as the most appropriate destination.

Jose Mourinho is a big admirer of the 25-year old, but previously played down the idea of being able to sign the player. But with Neymar being pushed out of Barcelona by his father, Mourinho could firm up his interest.

However Manchester City are also believed to be interested in signing Neymar, who has also previously spoken about his admiration for Pep Guardiola.

“Guardiola is a guy that I really admire and who I would love to work with,”

A move for the Brazilian would not come cheap though. He has a release clause of €200m, rising to €222m this summer and €250m from next year onwards, although Barcelona could accept a lower offer.
