Man United to consider Henderson as makeweight in Kane deal

Manchester United could use Dean Henderson as a potential makeweight in negotiations to sign Harry Kane, with Tottenham interested in signing the goalkeeper.

Henderson is on loan at Nottingham Forest and faces an uncertain future beyond this season, as the goalkeeper considers a permanent departure from the Red Devils in search of regular first-team football.

Spurs are understood to be interested in signing the 26-year-old as the club consider long-term replacements for Hugo Lloris. Henderson has been placed on the north London side’s shortlist of targets, alongside Everton’s Jordan Pickford.

Henderson appears a more attainable target for Spurs, after Pickford signed a new contract at Everton last month. The England number one is expected to remain at Everton unless the club are relegated from the Premier League this season.

ESPN are reporting that Manchester United could use Spurs’ interest in Henderson to aid their pursuit of Harry Kane. United want to sign a centre-forward this summer and have made the England captain a leading target, but Spurs value the 29-year-old at around £100m and the club are keen to avoid drawn-out negotiations with Daniel Levy.

United are hopeful that Henderson could be used as a makeweight to tempt Spurs into a sale, with Kane set to enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer.
