Manchester United have ‘stepped up’ their efforts to sign Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig this summer.
Olmo could be available for an affordable fee if Leipzig miss out on Champions League qualification this season, with the German side currently fourth in the Bundesliga table.
The Spain international has endured frustrating season with injury issues and United are understood to be keen to test Leipzig’s resolve with a bid for the midfielder.
The Daily Express are reporting that Olmo could be available for a fee of around £35m as he enters the final 12 months of his contract at the Red Bull Arena this summer.
Erik ten Hag wants to improve his attacking options and Olmo – comfortable in a number of advanced roles – is believed to be open to a new challenge after three-and-a-half seasons at Leipzig.
He has scored 20 goals in 115 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig and has netted six times in 30 caps for Spain at international level.
Champions League football could be essential to winning the race for Olmo, whose representatives are ‘weighing up various transfer proposals’ as the Spaniard considers his next move. United are fourth in the Premier League table, three points ahead of fifth-placed Spurs having played a game less than the north Londoners.
