Manchester United are ready to step up the club’s interest in signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Amrabat was on the club’s radar during the January transfer window after starring at the 2022 World Cup last winter, with the Moroccan midfielder the driving force behind his side’s historic run to the semi-finals in Qatar.
Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are among the clubs to have considered approaches for Amrabat, who could be available for around £30m.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Manchester United are ready to increase their efforts to sign the 26-year-old, whose current contract expires in 2024. Fiorentina, however, have the option to extend that deal for a further season.
Amrabat has made 107 appearances for Fiorentina since signing for the club from Club Brugge and formed part of the team that finished as runners-up in the Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League last season.
His defensive work and energy would be a welcome addition to Erik ten Hag’s midfield and the Moroccan could replace Fred, who has been linked with Fulham and clubs in Saudi Arabia.
Scott McTominay has also been linked with an exit after struggling for a regular role last season with a number of Premier League clubs interested in the Scotland international. Newcastle, West Ham and Brighton are among those to have been credited with an interest in McTominay this summer.
