Sporting boast a 100 percent record in the Portuguese top flight this season as they bid for a third league title under Amorim.

The 39-year-old was asked about the Man United vacancy on Monday, but he refused to answer the question out of respect for his current club.

โ€œI was expecting that question and obviously I am not going to talk about my future,โ€ he said.

โ€œI am not going to speak about my future because no matter what I say Iโ€™d have to always talk about it.

โ€œSince the first day, I said it was not worthy to ask about it and I am not going to make any comments about my future.โ€

Amorim was linked with the Liverpool job in the summer before the Anfield club hired Arne Slot.

The former Benfica player flew to London in April for talks with West Ham United about replacing David Moyes. He subsequently apologised to Sporting fans for making a “mistake” and remained in Lisbon.
