Manchester United are looking to sign a new centre-back in the summer transfer window as they prepare for Raphael Varane to leave the club.
Speculation around the French defender’s future has been growing in recent months, and this week two Saudi Pro League clubs have been linked with the 30-year-old.
Varane will be a free agent at the end of the season unless he signs an extension with the Red Devils, although it is believed the club want him to re-sign on reduced terms.
If the former Real Madrid player decides his future lies away from Old Trafford, then Al-Ittihad and Al-Nassr could swoop in to sign him on a free transfer, according to 90mins.
The two clubs are ‘working on offers’ that would see Varane potentially earn €30 million per annum on a three-year deal.
Man United already have a replacement in mind should Varane move to Saudi Arabia or elsewhere, as Juventus defender Gleison Bremer has been linked with the Premier League outfit.
The club’s interest in the 26-year-old has grown ‘increasingly stronger’, according to Tuttosport, who claim the Brazilian centre-back could move for €60-70m.
Bremer has previously spoken about playing in England. “The Premier League is an exciting championship, I would like to play there one day,” before adding: “but I’m only focused on Juventus to win in black and white, we are one of the best teams in the world.”
Meanwhile, Man United could also move for Real Betis and Argentina midfielder Guido Rodriguez, according to Fichajes. The 29-year-old’s contract expires in the summer, meaning he is free to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs now.
