Man United monitoring two young strikers if Harry Kane pursuit fails

Manchester United will consider Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani as alternatives if the club are unable to sign Harry Kane this summer.

Erik ten Hag has made the signing of Kane from Tottenham his number one priority for the transfer window as the Red Devils look to sign a centre-forward capable of turning them into title contenders.

The England captain will enter the final 12 months of his deal at Spurs this summer and is expected to push for an exit in search of elusive silverware.

However, Spurs have not given up hope of persuading Kane to recommit his future to the club and will not allow their record goalscorer to depart without a fight.

United are keen to avoid a protracted transfer saga surrounding Kane, but acknowledge a deal could be difficult given Daniel Levy’s historical reluctance to conduct business with domestic rivals.

Spurs are expected to value Kane at around £100m and United have shortlisted alternatives should their pursuit fail. The Manchester Evening News are reporting that Hojlund and Kolo Muani are under consideration following breakout seasons at their respective clubs.

Hojland has scored eight goals in all competitions during his debut season at Atalanta, before announcing his arrival on the international stage with a hat-trick on his full debut for Denmark last week. The 20-year-old followed that performance with two goals against Kazakhstan to emerge as the early leading scorer in UEFA Euro 2024 qualification.

Kolo Muani also changed clubs last summer and has been one of the bargains of the campaign across Europe’s top five leagues. The 24-year-old signed for Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer from Nantes, but has broken into the France squad after an outstanding season in the Bundesliga.

He has scored 11 goals and laid on a league-leading ten assists, with no player in the division having been directly involved in more goals this season.
