Manchester United have identified Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez as a potential alternative to Andre Onana.

Sanchez has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United as the club continue their search for a new goalkeeper, with the Spain international an option after losing his place in the Brighton side to Jason Steele last season.

The 25-year-old is understood to be considering his future after a reported fall-out with manager Roberto De Zerbi and could be available for around £30m this summer.

Sanchez had been a reliable performer across three Premier League seasons with Brighton before losing his status as number one and has earned two caps for Spain at international level.

He is expected to move on after Brighton signed Netherlands Under-21s goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen from Anderlecht for £16.3m this week.

According to the Daily Mail, Sanchez is viewed as a more affordable option than Inter Milan goalkeeper Onana, who is valued in excess of €50m at the San Siro.

Erik ten Hag previously worked with the Cameroon international at Ajax and is keen to bring Onana to the Premier League, with his command of the penalty box and comfortability in possession well-suited to Ten Hag’s demands to build from the back.
