Manchester United legend Gary Neville has urged Gareth Bale to show that he wants to move to Old Trafford, as the Real Madrid star continues to be linked with a move back to the Premier League.
Bale has been dominating the headlines recently after he announced that he would be considering his future at the Spanish giants this summer, just minutes after his match winning brace in the Champions League final against Liverpool.
The former Spurs star has been heavily linked with a move to United in pretty much every transfer window since he left English football in 2013, and with the level of transfer fee and wages involved in any deal to secure his services Old Trafford seems his most likely destination.
Former Red Devil’s defender Neville admitted he rates the 28-year-old highly, but also insisted that he needs to show a desire to want to make the move to Manchester.
“I’ve got a lot of admiration for him as a player,” Neville told BBC Radio Manchester.
“I’d like to see (Lionel) Messi play for United or (Cristiano) Ronaldo or Neymar or all these players, but the reality is they’ve got to want to come to the club.
“That’s the first question that needs to be asked.
“If he wants to come to United then absolutely, yes, because he’s a fantastic player and he is a game changer.
“For me every top club is looking for that player who is the difference who can turn the big games.”
It is yet to be seen however, how today’s shock announcement that Zinedine Zidane has stepped down as Real manager will effect Bale’s future in the Spanish capital.
