Garnacho realises ‘dream’ as Man United set sights on Champions League places

Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho said it was “like a dream” to hear the fans chant his name at Old Trafford after beating Everton on Saturday.

The Argentine youngster was instrumental to the Red Devils’ victory, winning both penalties as Erik ten Hag’s side bounced back from consecutive defeats in the Premier League.

Bruno Fernandes converted the first spot kick in the 12th minute before handing the responsibility to Marcus Rashford for the second, which he dispatched accurately to put Man United in a comfortable position ten minutes before halftime.

The results leaves the club three points off Tottenham Hotspur and fifth position, which might be enough to earn them qualification for next season’s Uefa Champions League.

“We lost the last two games, it’s important to be there,” Garnacho told TNT Sports as he picked up the Man of the Match award. “We want to be in the Champions League next season so I am very happy [with this win].

“Now every game the manager said is a final. We have to win every single game, we’re Manchester United. The job is done.

“The manager wants me to go one v one, to shoot, to dribble. I won two penalties. It’s important.

“It’s like a dream with my age. A full Old Trafford stadium chanting my name is incredible. I am very proud and happy.”
