Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund, the Premier League Player of the Month

Man United forward wins Premier League Player of the Month

Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund has been named as the Premier League Player of the Month for February.

Hojlund scored in all four of his Premier League appearances in February and recorded a joint-league-leading six goal involvements throughout the month, as the Denmark international found his feet in English football.

The 21-year-old endured a tough start following his £72m arrival from Atalanta in the summer and failed to score in his opening 14 appearances in the Premier League.

However, a late winner against Aston Villa on Boxing Day kickstarted a purple patch from the forward, who became the youngest Premier League player to score in six successive appearances.

In February, he netted in wins over Wolves, West Ham, Aston Villa and Luton, before suffering a setback with a muscle strain. Manchester United have since lost back-to-back games in the absence of their leading scorer.

Hojlund – who has scored 13 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions this season – beat Phil Foden, Joao Gomes, Pascal Gross, Rodrigo Muniz, Bukayo Saka and Ollie Watkins to the Monthly Award.

He is the second Manchester United player to claim the award this season, after Harry Maguire was recognised in November.
