Man United back in pole position in Griezmann race

Manchester United are once again favourites to sign Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann, according to reports in The Mirror.

Earlier in the week Barcelona were thought to be leading the race for the French striker’s signature, although Atletico have since reported the Catalan club for illegally approaching the player and with the Madrid club, also not keen on selling to a domestic rival the chances of the player moving to Old Trafford seem to have increased once again.

Griezmann’s lethal finishing ability have elevated him to the level of superstar in recent seasons, and he looked close to joining United in the summer, but the move fell apart when Atletico’s transfer ban was upheld and they were unable to sign a replacement.

The talented-attacker actually has several links to United already: his brother is a big fan, he is best friends with the Red Devils record-signing Paul Pogba, and he grew up idolising David Beckham.

Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the 26-year-old and wants to add mire firepower to his squad, so a move to Old Trafford may well suit all parties.
