Manchester United are said to be becoming increasingly alarmed by the behaviour of January signing Alexis Sanchez, and fear the Chile international’s spell at the club could be a disastrous repeat of the time Angel Di Maria spent at Old Trafford.
The former Arsenal man has struggled to produce anywhere near his best form for Jose Mourinho’s side, and has found the net just once in his 10 appearances for his new club.
Despite being United’s highest paid player on a reported £600,000 per week, Sanchez’s attitude is already being called into question by people at the club, with Chris Wheeler of the Daily Mail today writing:
“Staff have been surprised by his miserable demeanour at the club’s Carrington training ground where he cuts an unhappy, isolated figure and often eats alone in the canteen.”
“Some say he comes across as a player who is having second thoughts over his decision to join United in a swap deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.”
“They have drawn comparisons with Di Maria, who was a British record signing when he moved to Old Trafford for £59.7million in 2014 but joined Paris Saint-Germain in a £44m deal following a dismal season in England.”
