Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has singled out games against Liverpool and Chelsea as being crucial if his side are to regain their Premier League title this season.
All three of these teams are the favourites to win this seasons top flight crown, with each of the sides currently unbeaten in the league so far.
Gundogan has pretty much admitted that he sees the fight for the Premier League title as being as a three horse race:
“It looks like those games will be important,” Gundogan told reporters after his side 5-0 romp away to Cardiff on Saturday.
“We play Liverpool in a couple of weeks and it will be a real test for us at Anfield.
“Liverpool is a very strong team and Chelsea are very strong.
“We played an incredible Premier League season last year, gaining 100 points, and we are aware that it will get more and more difficult.
“Our opponents are stronger than they were last year and we are the champions, so everyone wants to beat us.”
Liverpool will travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea this coming weekend, with Man City set to face Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield on 7 October.
