Manchester City are expected to submit an offer to sign Declan Rice imminently with the club holding ‘serious interest’ in signing the West Ham captain.
City are set to rival Arsenal in the race to sign the England international and a formal bid is expected to be lodged today. Arsenal have already seen two bids for Rice turned down by West Ham, who rejected a second offer of £90m including add-ons earlier this week.
Interest from the Premier League champions will unnerve Arsenal, who have made the signing of Rice their priority for the summer transfer window. The Athletic are reporting that Manchester City’s interest is ‘serious’ and an opening offer is expected imminently.
Rice has become one of the Premier League’s most in-demand talents since progressing from West Ham’s academy system. The 24-year-old led the Premier League for interceptions last season and captained the Hammers to a first major trophy in 43 years with Europa Conference League success.
City’s interest comes after Ilkay Gundogan agreed a deal to sign for Barcelona on a free transfer, while there are doubts over the future of Bernardo Silva.
City have agreed a fee with Chelsea for Mateo Kovacic, but are keen to add another midfielder to their squad ahead of next season.
